Too old for American Girl Dolls?

When I was younger I really wanted an American Girl Doll, but never told my parents because I knew they were REALLY expensive. Now that I’m older I know that they are expensive but not as untouchable as I thought before. After my sister got her second doll, I thought about getting one. I’ ve been making clothes for hers (crocheting) and now I really want one.
So either Christmas or next b-day I’m gonna get one (or two). But I was jsut wondering, what age do you think is too old to have dolls like that??

Two years ago, for my sixtieth birthday, one of my friends took me to lunch at the cafe at the Chicago American Girls Place store. Once there, she presented me with one of the “Just Like You” dolls, who, surprise, surprise, looked like me. Well, sort of. She is cuter and has way fewer wrinkles! We have had lunch there a few more times and it is also a hoot. Neither of us have any of the accessories, but, man, do we like those dolls. Six or sixty (like us) the dolls are charming and the company does nice things for the communities in which their stores are located. I have another friend (also an old babe like me) who collects the twin babies.

About twenty years ago,when Pleasant Rowland was making her dolls in Middleton, Wisconsin, very near to where I lived then, I wanted to get one for my daughter, but she wasn’t interested. I received the catalogue for years and always thought it would be nice to have one of my own.

If you want one and money isn’t a problem, just go and get one. Life is too short to deny yourself such a small pleasure. And, you might like to know that Ms. Rowland was just as nice and pleasant as her name!
